Origin and Habitat: Lithops pseudotruncatella is found everywhere on the higher plains of the Khomas plateau near Windhoek, Khomas Plateau; Lichtenstein; and to Ondekaremba; Friedenau; Witvlei; and its eastern extensions, and also in the Eros mountains and their extensions. this lithops is an independent species, Lithops alpina, although it is quite obviously a dwarf form of L. pseudotruncatella.
Habitat: Lithops pseudotruncatella grows sunken in rocky environments and closely mimics the quartzite pebbles on which they grow and are lost to sight in this environment, this camouflage allows them to escape detection and is a very effective strategy for escaping predation.
